Effects of Compounds in Liquefied Methane on Rocket Engine Operation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methane (CH4) is a promising rocket fuel for various future space mission scenarios. It has advantages in terms of cost, performance, and environmental friendliness. Currently, there no clear definition on standards specifications liquefied methane or similar liquids such as natural gas (LNG) their use fuel. However, those regulations are necessary the commercial, safe, proper operation engines. Composition impurities mixtures obtained from biogenic sources depend location source (Europe, Asia, America), its extraction method treatment, used cleaning methods conditions gasification process, biomass sources. In present work, effects (N2, CO2, C2H6) within liquid gas/liquid methalox engine behavior analyzed. Regarding cold cryogenic side, phase diagrams discussed critical temperatures side outlined. Carbon dioxide identified rather problematic pollutant. The combustion processes investigated with several numerical simulations (1D 2D CFD). results indicate minor influence overall temperature but potentially relevant pressure chamber. Additionally, that respect to pressure, complex NOx nitrogen chemistry required.

Effect of Aspect Ratio on Supercritical Heat Transfer of Cryogenic Methane in Rocket Engine Cooling Channels
The supercritical turbulent flow of cryogenic methane flowing in a rocket engine cooing channel is numerically analysed by imposing constant heat flux at the bottom surface of the channel. The calculation scheme is validated by comparing the results obtained with experimental results reported in literature. The heat transfer coefficient is influenced by the strong variation in thermophysical pr...
متن کاملThe Blacklight Rocket Engine
Executive Summary This report summarizes the final project results for the period of May 1, 2002 through November 30, 2002 for the NIAC CP 01-02 Phase I study, "The BlackLight Rocket Engine". The objective of the Phase I study was to assess the potential of low pressure, mixed gas hydrogen plasmas (i.e. the BlackLight Process) toward the development of high performance space propulsion systems.
متن کاملthe effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends
flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...
The Effects of Phenolic Compounds in Iranian Propolis Extracts on in vitro Rumen Fermentation, Methane Production and Microbial Population
The objective of this study was to determine the chemical compounds of Iranian propolis (IP) extracts and to show flavonoids and phenol effects on methane production, fermentation characteristics and rumen microbial population (in vitro). In this study two diets with different concentrate: forage ratios as (HC: high concentrate) and (MC: middle concentrate), respectively as non-supplemented or ...
